The Associated Press has syndicated an article describing how architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP is using Autodesk Revit for the design of the lower floors in the new Freedom Tower, which will rise from Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan. The article goes on to explain the history and growth of CAD and the current move from 2D to 3D.

Not mentioned in the article is that the original project designer, Daniel Libeskind and his Berlin-based Studio Libeskind, used VectorWorks from Nemetschek, on Apple Macintosh computers.
