ITT Technical Institute is adding AVEVA’s VANTAGE Plant Design Management System (PDMS) to its curriculum. The college’s South Houston, Texas campus has acquired a PDMS license, and will use the software to teach a continuing education seminar in process and piping design.
ITT Technical Institute is a for-profit post-secondary institution with 77 campuses across North America. This is the first time an ITT Tech campus has offered a continuing education course in process and piping design. Many ITT Tech campuses offer a more generalized drafting curriculum, primarily on AutoCAD.
“Houston is the center of the petrochemical refining industry in the U.S.,” comments Robert Jeffords, Director of ITT Tech’s South Houston Campus. “On the Gulf Coast there are many more job opportunities for designing engineering process plants and offshore rigs than elsewhere in the nation. We are proud to be the first ITT Tech campus to offer a specific continued education seminar in process and piping design that more clearly serves the needs of engineering employers in the area.”
According to AVEVA, PDMS has been used to design 80% of all new offshore projects worldwide in the last ten years, as well as the majority of all the CAD-designed rigs in the Gulf Coast area.
