Yesterday a new web site, X-CAD.net, appeared with a mysterious and possibly tantalizing offer: "When and if" 100,000 people register at the web site by August 1, 2005, a "powerful parametric, solid-modeling 3D CAD program called X-CAD will be made available for free."
When I first saw the site, it struck me as an example of what I call quantum marketing. Quantum physics says that at some level (to oversimplify) the observer affects the outcome of an event. So, in quantum marketing, observers have the ability to affect the outcome of the campaign. Yes, obviously I’m playing along by writing about this. Call me a pawn in a quantum conspiracy.
