The Wall Street Journal announced its annual Technology Innovation Awards today, naming Graphisoft’s Constructor 2005, a ‘5D’ construction-management technology, as a runner-up in the software division.

Graphisoft's "Virtual Construction" technology will be the subject of an in-depth seminar at AEC Science and Technology Federal, December 13-15, 2005 in Washington, D.C, led by Steven Davis of Mortensen Construction.

The Wall Street Journal announced winners and runners-up in 12 technology industry categories, plus overall gold, silver, and bronze awards.

Other winners in the software category were:

  • Agitar Software for a tool that helps software designers fix bugs (winner)
  • Transitive for software which lets all software applications run on all computer platforms (runner-up).
  • Xerox for software that identifies digital images and categorizes the content, allowing search and retrieval (runner-up) 
  • Xerox for software that can "read" electronic documents and decide how they should be classified (runner-up)

Also honored as winner in the Network/Broadband/Internet category was Riverbed Technology, for network appliances that speed data transfer between remote offices. Several large AEC firms, including Gensler Architects, have adopted Riverbed's solutions.
