In August we reported it was “business as usual” for CAD products at IMSI Software, following news of the company's plans to transform into an Internet video media provider. “But ask me again in 30 days,” about TurboCAD, IMSI co-founder and Executive VP Robert “Bob” Mayer told AECnews.com at the time.
Today CAD journalist Ralph Grabowski is reporting that Mayer has resigned from IMSI's board of directors, "to focus his attention on a potential transaction with the company." It doesn't take an advanced degree in reading tea leaves to know the “potential transaction” must be about TurboCAD and the rest of the products in IMSI's Precision Design line. Mayer is a significant IMSI shareholder, so it is possible he and IMSI are negotiating a split. When IMSI's merger with AccessMedia, Inc., is complete, the company plans to rename itself as Broadcaster, Inc. This would potentially free up the IMSI name as well as the design assets, if such a plan is in the works.
At the time of this posting, Mayer was unavailable for comment.
