A research analyst with investment services firm Piper Jaffray is predicting that Autodesk will announce price increases across the product line next week.

As reported by Forbes.com, analyst Gene Munster says Autodesk will announce prices increases on most products during the company's OneTeam internal sales event in Las Vegas. "We believe the demand for Autodesk's products is fairly inelastic, given the company's deeply intrenched customer base," Munster said in his report.

Next Wednesday, March 22, is the last day to upgrade Autodesk 2002 products.

"Our conversations with resellers this week leave us feeling that this obit did not have the same intensity at the end that we have seen with prior obits," the analyst said. "It is too early in the quarter and our reseller sample in these checks is too small for us to make a determination on how the slower end to the upgrade will impact first-quarter results."
