The AIANY Technology Committee and The Structural Engineers Association of New York, are co-hosting a panel discussion Tuesday June 13 in New York City on how technology is causing practitioners to re-think roles and responsibilities in the design and construction.
“Changing Practices” will bring together a panel of innovators “who are using technology to move beyond the boundaries of conventional practice and entering into new cross-cutting roles,” says Paul Seletsky, chair of the AIANY Technology Committee and director of digital design for the New York office of Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM).
Seletsky says the panelists will “present relevant work and discuss how their practices are evolving, what the journey from conventional to innovative practice has been, professional and contractual implications of process innovation, and what the future holds for new models of practice.”
Scheduled panelists include Erleen Hatfield of Thornton-Tomasetti Engineers, Richard Herskovitz of Architectural Wordwork Industries, Christopher Sharples of SHoP Architects, Dennis Shelden of Gehry Technologies, and Marc Simmons of Front, Inc. Seletsky will moderate the discussion. Attendees can earn 2.0 CEU’s.
The event is free, but seating is limited and an RSVP is required. Contact Paul Seletsky to register and for meeting location and time.
