The new version of JetStream, the popular 3D design review software from NavisWorks Ltd., features support for Autodesk’s DWF design publishing format and connects to the Google line of CAD/GIS products. The ability to export to Google Earth helps make JetStream a lingua franca among CAD tools, as it already imports a wide variety of file types. A construction review team could assemble a model from various imported files and export it to Google Earth as needed without going back to the design team for a custom file.
JetStream v5.1 also updates its support for AutoCAD to version 2007 and adds localization for Germany, Japan, China and France, among other new features.
NavisWorks has achieved a reputation for interoperability in AEC, becoming a popular tool for 3D construction review. “I sleep better at night because of NavisWorks,” Mike Kenig of Holder Construction once told AECnews.
The NavisWorks philosophy is to meet the customer’s need for interoperability in the downstream use of design information. not to dictate specific formats or workflow styles.
