Adobe has added the ability to set and track PDF usage rights while using its online PDF engine. The new features, now in beta, bring to the online user features found in Adobe’s LiveCycle server-based PDF management software.

Features include the ability to specify authorized recipients, define PDF usage rights, manage versions, and track usage of distributed PDF documents. Having these tools available in a browser-based, zero-client format is great news for small firms and individuals who would like these server-based features but lack the appropriate infrastructure (and budget) for the full Adobe LiveCycle implementation.

The service, at CreatePDF, is not free; it is either $9.99/month or $99.99/year. A free trial period is available.
