In a tersely written statement issued today, the Open Design Alliance confirms that it has removed Evan Yares as President, Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors.

The statement adds, "the Board of Directors is now fully focused on ensuring continued and concentrated development of its DWG and DGN file libraries, and the implementation of new business processes that better serve the organization's members. Mauritz Botha from IMSI/Design, currently Vice President, will perform the duties of the President until further notice."

I think Evan Yares was mistaken by taking on Autodesk. He simply could not stop criticizing that company in all situations right or wrong. Maybe the ODA is letting Evan go in order to have a gentler approach vis-a-vis Autodesk and hopes that Adesk will not chase it in the courts once Evan is gone!.... a theory.

And a theory it shall remain.

Autodesk commenced its hit-'em-while-they're-down legal action against the non-profit ODA organization after (1) Evan was initially let go; and (2) after learning the ODA had lost a half-million dollars due to embezzlement by another person.
