Ecobuild America, LLC has announced the themes for the keynote presentations at MayEcobuild America & AEC Science & Technology (AEC-ST) conferences, May 15-17 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, California.

AEC-ST Keynote
Beyond BIM: Toward Integrative, Performance Driven Design Methodologies will be the theme of the keynote panel presentation for AEC-ST. Presenters include Alan Hudin, Director of Development for Gehry Technologies; Paul Seletzky, Director of Digital Design for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; Charles Eastman, Director, College of Architecture Ph.D. Program, Georgia Tech; and Andrew Marsh, Co-Founder and Head of R&D, Square One Research.

Building Information Modeling holds the promise of integrating multiple performance, building quality and building delivery aspects through comprehensive 3D centric project databases, states the AEC-ST announcment. Despite the recent successes in BIM adoption for the purposes of integrated project documentation, much of the enhanced potential of BIM in integrating design intentions, project performance and project delivery remain beyond BIM as many such systems are currently configured.

This keynote features the work of an initiative between four organizations seeking to advance the use of BIM, green building and process performance efforts. The presentation will present the individual works of these firms, discuss the imperative behind the joint development initiative and include a discussion of their efforts to drive design intelligence across disparate design and performance intentions through interoperability standards.

This presentation will be Wednesday, May 16, 1:00 pm. It also serves as the keynote for the National BIM Conference which is part of the AEC-ST conference program.

Ecobuild America Keynote
Global Reach and Global Impact: A Strategy for Environmental Integration is the topic of the Ecobuild America keynote. The speaker will be Jeff Barber AIA, LEED AP, Principal and Executive Director, Gensler Architecture Design and Planning, Worldwide. This keynote is scheduled for Thursday, May 17, 2007, 1:00 pm.

We are in a critical transition from laws to ethics that will define the third phase of the environmental movement, where the architect is the leader of environmental integration, says Barber. In his keynote, Barber will explain how Gensler is implementing a global integrated sustainable design strategy. This session will look at the internal processes through which Gensler embeds sustainability into everyday activities, and the results this has driven for their clients in response to climate change.

Ecobuild America and AEC-ST are offering free admission to both keynote sessions and the accompanying comprehensive exhibit. To take advantage of this opportunity, registration must be received by April 9, 2007 at www.ecobuildamerica.com or www.aecst.com.
