Today Adobe released an update to Acrobat 8 Professional and Acrobat 8 Standard that provides support for Microsoft Windows Vista and Office 2007. The free update, Acrobat 8.1, is now available to customers for download at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3661 (Windows, Acrobat Professional and Standard) and http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3662 (Macintosh, Acrobat Professional). The update is also available via the product line’s automatic updater technology.
When Adobe shipped Acrobat 8 in November 2006, the final versions of Vista and Office 2007 were not yet available. As a result, while the initial shipping version of Acrobat 8 could be installed and run on Vista and Office 2007, it did not fully support them. Adobe has now completed testing Acrobat 8.1 against Vista and Office 2007, and the product is compatible with both.
There is also a new version of Adobe Reader available. The free Adobe Reader 8.1 is fully compatible with Vista, and is available for download at: http://www.adobe.com/go/getreader/.
