There’s a new CAD media outlet available today. As far as I know CADCAMNETtv is the first video news site devoted to CAD industry news.

CADCAMNETtv (CCNtv) is a joint venture between Ash Bridge Media LLC and Alkemedia Productions LLC, both of Denver. For now, there will be a new edition up every other week. CCNtv provides CAD industry news in a ‘TV news’ format, allowing viewers to quickly catch up with the latest industry announcements, and to watch some superbly produced user case studies’ and interviews. I think the first edition’s case study on custom bicycle manufacturer Yeti is really interesting.

I need to offer Full Disclosure at this point. I am a partner in Ash Bridge Media, but did very little to contribute to the launch. Some of my reporting for CADCAMNet and 3D CAD News was rewritten into broadcast news format by others. I will appear in later editions, totally unconvinced that I belong in front of the camera.

The CCNtv team has worked hard to make this a professional-quality news production, and I think the results are quite good. In our uber-geek, male-dominated industry, I’m sure anchor Amy Adams will become a star overnight. Expect other talking heads to debut in later weeks.

In a press release we sent out today, Alkemedia Productions CEO Greg Smith says, “Video on the web is a medium that is growing rapidly, based on the familiarity that people have with TV as a resource for information, entertainment and news. CCNtv will provide a bi-weekly issue of CAD-focused news, interviews and other content streaming to the desktop seamlessly and quickly. If people enjoy it, we want hear about what they like.”

CCNtv will cover all vertical markets of the CAD world, including MCAD, AEC/BIM, GIS, Plant, and PLM. CCNtv is free to view and is sponsored by CAD vendors. So, our thanks go out to our founding sponsors CoCreate and Lattice 3D.

Interesting. After seeing the first show I notice a few small details that probably will be fixed. Amy is looking to her left too much. I want to know how long the show is or see a progress bar and to wind back and forth. It's much better with the viewer on http://www.engineeringautomation.net/ right now. I also see that podcasts are coming soon. Great!
