Ash Bridge Media LLC and Ecobuild America LLC announce P3, a conference and exhibit on IT Innovation for the Process, Power & Plant Project Lifecycle, sponsored by AECnews, CADCAMNet and nextPLANT.

T
he one-day conference will take place December 12, 2007 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. P3 launches in conjunction with AECST Fall—Science & Technology for Architecture, Engineering & Construction; and Ecobuild Fall—Sustainable, Green and High Performance Solutions for the Built Environment. The exhibit portion will run December 12-13.

P3 is an innovative new event offering process and power plant designers, owners, and operators a unique opportunity to maximize the benefits of information technology. Educational sessions focus on the bang-for-the-buck pressure points where IT can do the most to improve project and operations performance. P3 will help end users, project managers, and the entire engineering enterprise with the quest for greater productivity using the information technology currently available.

Of special interest to attendees will be two
Pecha Kucha-style conference sessions allowing side-by-side comparisons of P&ID and piping solutions. Vendors will have 20 slides at 20 seconds each in a tightly moderated format to present the unique features and benefits of their software, with equal time given to audience questions. Other sessions will provide expert insight on IT in P3 for sustainability, security, personnel shortages, engineering, visualization, interoperability, and process improvement. These sessions are designed to coordinate productivity issues with the IT tools that help solve these problems.

The conference sessions will be scheduled in two tracks, with a joint keynote presentation. Conference session titles include:
  • Expanding the Use of Visualization in Plant Design

  • ISO 15926 as the Foundation of a BIM Standard for the Process Industry

  • Alarm Management for Safer and Effective Plant Operations

  • A Pecha Kucha-Style Side-by-Side Overview of P&ID Software

  • Plant Design Database Challenges

  • A Pecha Kucha-Style Side-by-Side Overview of Piping Software

  • Concurrent Engineering as a Design Workflow Goal

  • Influencing the Direction of Engineering IT in Your Organization

  • Can Technology Help Solve the Personnel Shortage?

  • How Will Green Trends Affect The Plant Industry?

  • Maximum Utilization of Point Cloud Data in Plant Design and Maintenance

  • Work and Business Process Interoperability Challenges for Distributed Engineering

Attendees include decision-makers and creative professionals in EPC, design/engineering, construction, and maintenance firms as well as owner/operators of the world’s process and power plants.

The two-day exhibit will be a showcase of software and applications to provide hands-on productivity gains. Participants include Autodesk, Bentley, and other industry solution providers.

Process and Power IT has needed a conference like this for a long time,” says Randall S. Newton, CADCAMNet Editor-in-Chief and P3 Conference Director. “We are bringing the industry a streamlined, cost-effective conference and trade show that will quickly become a standard.” The conference portion of P3 will expand to two days at Ecobuild America & AEC-ST May 2008 in Anaheim, California.

AEC-ST Fall and Ecobuild Fall meet in cooperation with Green Building Initiative; Green Mechanical Council; Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice; U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Department of Commerce; buildingSMART Alliance; and National Institute of Building Sciences. The Gold Corporate Sponsor is Bentley Systems and the Silver Corporate Sponsor is AEC Infosystems.

Ecobuild America LLC manages and produces Ecobuild America, Ecobuild Fall, AEC-ST, and AEC-ST Fall. Company principals are Richard C. Vendola, Jr., and George Borkovich. Together they have a depth of experience in technology and event planning for the AEC industry, including creating and managing the former A/E/C SYSTEMS International conference and exhibition.
