After a hiatus for an overhaul, the
IFC-BIM Exchange Support Forum is now back in business. Anyone with questions, or who wants to discuss topics related to the use of IFC classes for building information modeling, is welcome to participate.
It is possible to read all discussions (except in the private category) without registering. To be able to post messages requires registration.
According to
Robert Lipman of the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST), one of the purposes of the forum is to bring together project team members to share their experiences exchanging Industry Foundation Class (IFC) formatted files between different CAD software packages.
Lipman says there is also plenty of information about getting started with IFCs, the IFC certification process, and sample IFC files.
