3D Basecamp: Southern Ontario Serendipity

GOOGLE SKETCHUP 3D BASECAMP, MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA--I'm sitting here checking email at a picnic table, waiting for the meeting to start at Google SketchUp 3D Basecamp 2008. A woman takes the empty seat next to me and starts chatting up the two women across the table. It turns out that two of them are from Southern Ontario. Within five minutes they are planning an excursion into The City (what locals call San Francisco), discussing their clients back home, swapping cell phone numbers, and planning what sessions to attend. Serendipity is a wonderful thing.

Our meeting (the other girl from southern Ontario and me) on that first day of Basecamp, turned out to be a wonderful friendship. We did drive up to San Fransisco after the sessions ended on Friday and spent the day site-seeing together before I had to catch my flight home later that night. She was actually the one who emailed me and told me to check out your blog. Now that I'm back home, enjoying my "real" Tetley tea, I look back on basecamp with many fond memories. I've met great people and had many great conversations even if they were only about the quality of American tea.
